The OT Companion Project provides personalized companionship and event support for aging adults and individuals with mobility or cognitive challenges. Our services help loved ones confidently attend life’s meaningful celebrations with the assistance of an experienced occupational therapist.
Who can benefit from your services?
We support older adults, adults with disabilities, individuals with mobility limitations, and anyone who may need extra assistance and companionship to participate fully in special events.
Are Companions CPR certified?
Yes, all OT Companions are certified in CPR and first aid.
What types of events do you support?
We happily assist with:
- Weddings
- Graduations
- Religious ceremonies
- Bar/Bat Mitzvahs
- Family gatherings
- Reunions
- Memorials
- Special celebrations or milestones
If you have something unique in mind, just ask. We can accommodate most needs.
Do you provide adaptive equipment or mobility devices?
No, we do not provide personal equipment, but we can recommend resources that loan or sell appropriate devices.
Do you provide transportation?
Yes. We offer safe, reliable transportation to and from the event when requested, including help entering and exiting the vehicle.
How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for weekend events. However, we do our best to accommodate last-minute requests whenever availability allows.
Can family members join during the consultation?
Absolutely. We encourage family involvement to ensure everyone feels informed, supported, and comfortable with the plan.
What if my loved one needs help with personal care during the event?
We provide discreet, respectful assistance with restroom support and other non-medical personal needs, always prioritizing privacy, dignity, and comfort.
While Companions are unable to administer medications, they can provide reminders and encouragement at scheduled times.
Is this service available outside Massachusetts?
At this time, services are primarily offered within Massachusetts. Travel beyond this area may be possible. Please contact us to discuss options.
